Have you ever been to The Talk in Bangsar? Well, it just so happens that this Japanese bistro was one of my clients when I was working in NST years ago, which was how I discovered this place. I remember my first experience dining at The Talk was for a food review I did for this particular client. So everything was on the house and I had a taste of the best they had to offer together with some of my colleagues and our trusty photographer then. It was really fun doing food reviews during my NST days; I was treated to the best items on the menu and impeccable service too, seeing that their purpose was to impress me, the critic! ;)
Ever since that day, The Talk has become one of our favourite places to visit whenever we crave for some tasty Japanese cooked food! There are so many items to choose from, but we're really quite familiar with the menu so B and I already knew what to order even before reaching Bangsar.
Naturally I had to have my Pina Colada. It is my all-time favourite mocktail and The Talk serves the best one! Plus, it goes really well with almost everything on the menu, including our choices for the day.
Gyoza Dumplings
Seasoned baby octopus - YUMMY!We decided to be adventurous by ordering 2 appetizers - our customary seasoned Baby Octopus and the Gyoza Dumplings. The latter was a first time order for us and it was just okay, perhaps I need to acquire the taste for it but the octopus was simply scrumptious! This is a must try for anyone dining at The Talk; the zucchini on the side makes a refreshing addition to the sweetness of the baby octopus; together, it's simply divine!
Fresh prawns in spicy mayo sauce
Garlic Fried RiceAs usual, I couldn't resist ordering my favourite dish ...Sizzling Prawns while B had the Sizzling Salmon! It is the spicy mayo sauce that really brings out the tastiness of the prawns and this dish goes extremely well with Garlic Fried Rice, which we also ordered.
So if you happen to be in the neighbourhood, do stop by and check out this awesome bistro. The food is delicious and the ambience is as cosy as it gets. The music is also great as it plays a lot of 80s and 90s music so I know I'm in for a good time every time we dine at The Talk. Oh and if you look closely enough, you might even spot Mariuca in her favourite corner, happily sipping her Pina Colada and enjoying her Baby Octopus! ;)

Hola Space Code! Oh yeah, the octopus is really yummy, the best I've tasted so far! The Talk is at Jln. Telawi 3. Price range is okay, but I can only remember the price of the sizzling prawns and salmon...RM30 each. And I think my Pina Colada was RM12. Enjoy!! :)

Oh you really must try The Talk at least once! It's not the typical Jap place where they serve mainly raw stuff, the cooked dishes are really yummy and they have a wide range of menu items just for that! Try okay? He he, then tell me if you liked it or not! :)
I had jap food at this restaurant called Suki Sushi recently. Its really cheap compared to Sakae Sushi. Did you rebond your hair recently? Its really silky & you look great lah :)

Thanks for your comments and awesome feedback on my new blog design. Don't worry about the old header graphic, it's been remade--bigger, stronger, faster!-- and will return to the site in December as my header throughout the winter. It remains the best of the 4 seasonal headers and I can't wait to bring it back...Spring is actually my least favorite of the four, and I love my current header. Okay, you know teh tarik can be found almost everywhere ... but my friend once recommended the best one at PJ Hilton. A bit pricey for just teh tarik, but I gotta say it's really nice! Plus u get to enjoy the hotel ambience, so pay a little extra never mind la huh? Btw, you coming over for business or pleasure? :)

i am never a fan of Japanese food- for one, I thought most of their food are raw, like the sushis.
However, this place- The Talk seems like a great place, and the fried rice looks very tempting. I am not too sure about the octapus and dumplings, but the prawns-wow! looks like it is cooked in butter. I am sure the ambiance there is great, judging from the photos.

I think, i can never be a food critic as I am so fussy about my food. I am not adventurous when it comes to trying out new food too, if it looks and smells funny- then, it's a straight away no from me. :) Having said that, it's tough for me to survive elsewhere, which was why I declined the offer to study abroad last time. Now, i can cook, so, i am dying to migrate! LOL

I love Japanese food...when I was pregnant with my older daughter all I craved was sushi, which is supposed to be forbidden during pregnancy, but my doctor told me to go for it. I'm afraid your restaurant is a bit out of the way for me, though...

Hi Farah! See, ada Japanese food that's not raw, like at this restaurant for instance. You must try the prawns one day Farah, I'm very sure ul love it! The spicy mayo sauce is what makes it different from any dish I've ever tasted YUM! And the octopus isn't as scary as it seems, sedap!

Dropping in from the beach in Bay Head, New Jersey...this time we get the long weekend for Memorial Day.
Japanese food is not forbidden in pregnancy, but sushi is because it is raw and in rare cases can carry parasites...not a risk anyone worries about every day, but they have books about everything you have to worry about when you're having a baby. My first girl I craved sushi, my second girl I craved Big Macs, both very healthy babies.
You are correct, I have never been to Malaysia...embarrassed to say I don't think I could even find it on a map. I will get my kids' globe out in the morning. Whenever they see your banner ads on BlogExplosion, my girls say, "who is Mariuca, she is so pretty, is she your friend?!" So I will show them where you live over the weekend.

Err...may I say something? Heard that eat lots of 'raw material' will cause brains grow tape worms. I am so scared of that since the last time I experienced with sushi.

The girls have already started painting some seashells this morning. Speaking of healthy eating, they brought me donuts from Central Market while I was still in bed. Jelly donuts, chocolate....yum! No sushi for breakfast today.

Ha ha...the baby octopus is one of my fave dishes, sedap Rizal! It looks scary only, but it's really sweet and tasty! Prawns memang yummy!
