Japanese Delight!

Have you ever been to The Talk in Bangsar? Well, it just so happens that this Japanese bistro was one of my clients when I was working in NST years ago, which was how I discovered this place. I remember my first experience dining at The Talk was for a food review I did for this particular client. So everything was on the house and I had a taste of the best they had to offer together with some of my colleagues and our trusty photographer then. It was really fun doing food reviews during my NST days; I was treated to the best items on the menu and impeccable service too, seeing that their purpose was to impress me, the critic! ;)

Ever since that day, The Talk has become one of our favourite places to visit whenever we crave for some tasty Japanese
cooked food! There are so many items to choose from, but we're really quite familiar with the menu so B and I already knew what to order even before reaching Bangsar.

Naturally I had to have my Pina Colada. It is my all-time favourite mocktail and The Talk serves the best one! Plus, it goes really well with almost everything on the menu, including our choices for the day.

Gyoza Dumplings

Seasoned baby octopus - YUMMY!

We decided to be adventurous by ordering 2 appetizers - our customary seasoned Baby Octopus and the Gyoza Dumplings. The latter was a first time order for us and it was just okay, perhaps I need to acquire the taste for it but the octopus was simply scrumptious! This is a must try for anyone dining at The Talk; the zucchini on the side makes a refreshing addition to the sweetness of the baby octopus; together, it's simply divine!

Fresh prawns in spicy mayo sauce

Garlic Fried Rice

As usual, I couldn't resist ordering my favourite dish ...Sizzling Prawns while B had the Sizzling Salmon! It is the spicy mayo sauce that really brings out the tastiness of the prawns and this dish goes extremely well with Garlic Fried Rice, which we also ordered.

So if you happen to be in the neighbourhood, do stop by and check out this awesome bistro. The food is delicious and the ambience is as cosy as it gets. The music is also great as it plays a lot of 80s and 90s music so I know I'm in for a good time every time we dine at The Talk. Oh and if you look closely enough, you might even spot Mariuca in her favourite corner, happily sipping her Pina Colada and enjoying her Baby Octopus! ;)

YAY! I finally registered for a dNeero account! It's a very EASY way to earn more money online, and it requires taking simple, fun surveys to earn some easy cash whenever you take a survey and post it on your blog. What could be easier than that? So if you haven't signed up yet, do so here and let's make more money together!

My first survey is one on...yup Customer Service. For those of you who would like to vent or have your say on customer service, do take this survey. It's a simple short one too! :)

PS. Thanks for the recommendation

Good Morning World!

I woke up this morning, feeling somewhat refreshed after turning in early the previous night, something that's not usually in my course of being a night owl. Not fully recovered from my cold from last week, I still suffer from sudden bouts of coughing. Maybe that's why I found myself exhausted and sleepy at only 2am yesterday.

Waking up early does feel great to some extent. But it still didn't make me feel like having breakfast at the normal hour of 8am nor did it give me an extra bounce in my step today. I do however, feel less tired and the heaviness in my head has also disappeared. I'm also feeling more relaxed and not as panicky as yesterday, when I was frantically trying to meet two urgent deadlines. I couldn't let my clients down either as they belong in The Good Client category, so I was determined to rise early today to complete the jobs, which was exactly what I did!
In fact, I even managed to finish my jobs earlier than expected, so perhaps this waking up early is not a bad thing after all LOL! ;)

And right on cue, my friend Elle sent me an email today, which I thought was most fitting to share with you. This one goes out to all the
night owls, especially to My Midnight Buddy over at LadyJava's Lounge, Emila's Illustrated Blog and Ramblings of The Phat! These are some of my friends I usually encounter when I'm up and about during the wee hours of the morning!

Hmmm, I'm feeling quite guilty after reading Elle's email, so this email will serve as a reminder to yours truly to sleep early more often!

PS. Happy Wednesday peeps, I can't wait to watch AI tonight! ;)

Reasons for sleeping and waking up early

Evening at 9 - 11pm:
is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1am:
is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3am:
detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5am:
detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am:
detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9am:
absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

The Age That I Wish To Go Back To!

I was feeling a bit depressed today. The mood was blue all around so after moping around the house and feeling sorry for myself the whole day, I decided to do what B does when he needs to release stress - check out You Tube!

I stumbled upon this great video, which finally drew a smile out of me! It's a pretty cool yet hilarious version of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up video. I laughed so hard watching this video so do check it out! This guy obviously has a lot of free time to come up with such an entertaining video. From his appearance, to the props and dancing, he's got it all covered!
I have not LOLed this hard in a long time! ;)

The song alone was enough to send me down memory lane, all the way back to the eighties, 1987 to be specific! I was only 14 and loved every minute of being just a girl, whose major issue
was the few zits I had on my face! Life was all fine and dandy back then. There were no problems hovering above my head, no heartaches to endure, no stress to overcome...nothing! Just loads of fun and games, hanging out with my friends, going to school and having more fun with friends, crushing on the guy next door...sigh, those were the days!

So if I really could turn back time, I'd love to go back to the age 14, when life was a bed of beautiful roses and nothing but fond memories for me. Then I wouldn't be in this melancholy mood I'm stuck in right now! And with that, I think I've successfully answered Jean Chia's tag below, so now, I'd like to pass on this tag to these lucky people! ;)

Zubli, Nessa, Fida, LJ, Janice, Farah, Syura, GK, Nick (of course!), Mike, Marc, Syari, Uncle Sam, Matt, Bokjae, Karen, Jesse, Jackie and last but not least, Bless. Have fun with the tag and enjoy the video! :)

Stumble Upon Meme

Liza has tagged me with a new meme ... the Stumble Upon Meme! I remember Bobby was the one who introduced me to SU. Unfortunately, I never really got around to finding out all the benefits of SU, so I thought this would be a great time for me to rediscover SU and learn what it's all about by taking part in this meme.

I read that it is possible to increase the traffic of your blog through StumbleUpon. So I have decided to try it out, with your help of course. Here is the concept:

Stumble
the pages that link to you. In this way you drive more traffic to the page containing your link and thus you hope that some of that traffic comes back to you via the link on that page.

Let's modify things a bit and make our very own StumbleWorthy list. Why have a list, you say? A list is necessary for the participants to StumbleUpon. And also, it's needed to check whether the participants are really Stumble-ing. Plus, it helps your Technorati authority soar high!

For this meme, I'm tagging those that I know are already using SU and those like me, who are fairly new to SU and raring to discover what it's all about. Please join me Shinade, NAFA, MT, Forumer, Bobo, Zubli, Crystal, Uncle Sam, LJ, Jesie, Bokjae, Rolando, Bobby, Nick, Farah, Emila, Jean, Roxy, Bono, Rozella, Ruby, Eric, Billy, Debbie, Janice, Nessa, Tammy and Syura. See the complete RULES below and have a great weekend! :)

--START COPYING HERE--

Here are the rules:

1. Copy from "START COPYING HERE" to "STOP COPYING HERE".
2. Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post the "StumbleWorthy List" at each site you add.
3. Let me know your blog’s name and url by leaving me a comment HERE. I will add you to the master list.
4. Come back and copy the master list back to your site, often. This will allow the new comers to achieve equal benefit as the late comers do.
5. Register in StumbleUpon and install the toolbar.
6. Go to the sites found on the list and give them a thumb up (I like it!).
7. Add me as your friend in StumbleUpon: Blanne.

Note: Your url will be deleted in the Master List if you do not comply to the given rules.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THE LIST. OR CLICK HERE TO GET A BANNER THAT YOU CAN PUT ON YOUR BLOG. THE MORE PARTICIPANTS, THE GREATER INCREASE IN TRAFFIC! :)

My Lil' Blunder

Hola! I've been down with a fever since Monday morning. So if you have not been seeing me around in the blogosphere lately, that's the main reason.
My head hurts, my nose is all red from the sneezing and my eyes are all puffy and watery - definitely not a sight for sore eyes!

Yesterday saw me in an extra cranky mood. Firstly, I woke up to a blinding headache. Secondly, I woke up to the incessant ringing of my cell phone, which apparently had been ringing since early morning. So by the time I dragged my self out of bed, I was definitely not feeling very nice!

There was no way I could function properly and work was the last thing on my mind. After my morning coffee, I quickly checked and answered my urgent emails, before popping another 2 Panadols and settling down on the sofa to rest. My mind was numb from the pain and I was feeling quite drowsy from my medication. I was about to doze off when my phone rang...again! I tried ignoring it but it continued ringing, adding to my already throbbing headache. Totally agitated, I dragged myself away from the comfy sofa, and staggered into the kitchen, which was where I thought I left my phone. As luck would have it, bad luck that is, my phone was nowhere to be found, which only infuriated me further.

I finally found my phone on my desk, hidden underneath a stack of papers. By that time, I was certainly in no mood to talk to anybody but grudgingly answered the phone anyway. I was inside my home office (the one room in our home that gets terrible Maxis reception) so I couldn't really hear what the caller was saying. All I managed to catch was that he got my number from a friend and he was from X Worldwide. My immediate thought was that he must be another pesky insurance agent or a salesperson trying to sell me something...and that was when I lost it! I rudely interrupted the guy, saying that he'd better quickly get to the point cause I was really sick and was in no mood to listen to him drone on and on about some silly product! I was about to say something even nastier, when he halted my fury by saying that he was actually calling from an advertising agency and was looking for a copywriter! YIKES! It hit me then that I had just mistakenly snapped at a potential client and not the insurance nobody I initially thought he was! :(

Unsure whether to laugh or cry, I was completely horrified and stumped on what to do next! My fever momentarily disappeared and I forced myself to think clearly, trying to salvage a terribly awkward situation. I apologized profusely to my caller, citing my fever as the source of my temporary lapse in judgment! Though he was a great sport about the whole thing, and even laughed heartily when I told him that I mistook him for an insurance agent, I think that the damage has been done! Of course, that is not how I usually treat my clients. Unfortunately for him, he caught me at the wrong time and on a very sick day too. I know that's no excuse but it's the only one I have to offer! ;)

Anyway, I felt terrible about what happened, so immediately after this embarrassing blunder, I did the only thing I could do and call B to whine
LOL! He managed to console me and even cheered me up by reminding me about our upcoming vacation. And since we are still undecided about our travel plans, he suggested I work on our vacation instead of stressing myself silly over my blunder for the day.

So that's exactly what I did! I spent the rest of the afternoon checking out some of the most beautiful Paris Hotels, London Hotels, Birmingham Hotels and Manchester Hotels. Picturing us shopping, dining and visiting some of London's cool
attractions like the BFI London IMAX Cinema and the British Airways London Eye was exactly what the Doctor recommended! I ended up feeling much better and my headache finally disappeared. Oh and my research was fruitful as well. If we decide to make London our vacation spot, I'd love to check-in to the Draycott Hotel. Among all the wonderful hotels I checked out yesterday, this one caught my eye! Although a tad pricey at $316 per night, it's simply too beautiful to resist. What do you think? :)

Virtual Vacation, Join Me?

The one and only time I was ever in Vegas, I was just nine years old. Imagine that...there I was in the city of entertainment, filled with an abundance of nightlife entertainment and all the glitz and glam one could possibly soak up, and I was too young to enjoy any of it. There was no casino, no nightlife, no dancing...nothing! Things would definitely be different if I were to visit Las Vegas now. Unfortunately, I'm not that lucky and here I am; still wondering when I'd get to revisit Vegas.

My friend Zeff on the other hand, recently went on his dream vacation to LA and Las Vegas! He was away for more than a week and of course, was excited to share his pictures with us upon his return. As expected, they were gorgeous! If I have not said it before, I'm saying it now...Zeff is a wonderful photographer! Naturally talented, he takes amazing pictures so vivid and lifelike, you can't help but feel you're right there along with him in these pictures. So thanks to him, I'm able to take you on a virtual vacation to LA and Vegas! Are you ready?

Heading into LA...what a view!

Our first stop - Universal Studios

Heading into Wisteria Lane to visit Bree & gang!

Does this movie scene look familiar to you?

Nothing to be afraid of, it's just Jaws! ;)

A visit to the Kodak Theatre followed by a little shopping

Chinese Theatre

And now...Las Vegas, here we come!

Monte Carlo Hotel, which according to Zeff, is actually somewhat old-fashioned. The casino looks like a scene from an 80s movie. All I could think of when looking at this picture is the fact that I'm in Vegas and I love the 80s, so this hotel sounds just about right! ;)

A special invitation to the Trump Hotel & Casino from The Donald himself!

Magical

New York, New York!

Las Vegas Boulevard

And that's the end of our mini vacation in LA & Vegas! I hope you enjoyed this virtual vacation with me and if you're keen to experience the real thing, here's a great easy to book site for you to check out the best deals for Hotels in New York, Hotels in Rome, Hotels in Barcelona, and many MORE other locations worldwide!

And to Zeff, thank you for bringing back LA and Vegas to me; I had a blast! :)

For a Little Spark!

For the new couple embarking on an exciting new love, sparks are definitely in abundance! A mere brush of his hand against your fingers sends shivers down your spine and you wonder what's in store for you in this totally new world filled with only beautiful flowers and rainbows.

For the married couple, which has been together for a while, sparks are comparatively rare. After learning to adjust, accept and be completely comfortable with one another, sparks are more precious, making it vital for you to work harder at keeping them alive.

And last but not least, for the ambitious blogger like me who loves making new friends, gaining wider readership, monetizing my blog, building community and driving higher traffic, sparks are flying everywhere in the blogosphere with the emergence of a new advertising program called SocialSpark!

When I first heard about SocialSpark, I was very much intrigued. I mean who wouldn't? Any new program that gives me the opportunity to earn some money off my blog is much welcomed! Aside from all the perks I mentioned above, there is one particular feature that I love about SocialSpark and that is their special Blogger Bonus, awarded to one or more Bloggers every month for the best post written about a particular opportunity.
I think this is simply fabulous as it encourages bloggers to come up with a perfect, if not the best post for a given opportunity. You also get 12 full hours to complete the task at hand, which is a pretty reasonable amount of time.

Just like any other paid advertising programs, SocialSpark also has several code of ethics, which need to be strictly adhered including:

-100% Audit-able In-Post Disclosure
-100% Transparency
-100% Real Opinions
-100% Search Engine Friendly

So today, I'm happy to announce that SocialSpark has accepted me into this awesome community! The best part of this whole program is the fact that I get to enjoy another forum for me to interact and keep in touch with my blogger friends who are already members like LJ, Roxy, Christy, Mark, Bless, Nick, Elaine, Keeyit and Nessa. Obviously they're having a blast at SocialSpark, making new friends and gaining greater exposure for their blogs, and I'm happy to be a part of it! So what are you waiting for? I'm already here at SocialSpark and would love to see more familiar faces in my network. Are you ready to join me at SocialSpark and bring our blogging experience to an entirely new level of community outreach, traffic building, blog monetizing and social networking? Hurry up peeps...I'll be waiting! :)
